Region A Recovery Audit Contractor Posts Audit Issues for DRG Validation
DCS Healthcare (DCS), the Medicare recovery audit contractor (RAC) for Region A, recently posted 3 new CMS approved audit issues for RAC review on its website. Specifically, DCS posted the following issues pertaining to inpatient hospitals and DRG validation: MS-DRG Validation for MS-DRGs with Ventilator Support of 96+ hours MS-DRG Validation for MS-DRG 189 Pulmonary Edema & Respiratory Failure MS-DRG Validation for MS-DRGs for Tracheostomy The issues indicate that medical necessity is excluded from review at this time. IDF Field Hospital in Port-au-Princ...Video of IDF field hospital set up in soccer field in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Footage includes images of the premature baby born at the hospital today, and comments by the hospital commander, Col. Dr. Itzik Kryce. The IDF field hospital is currently the most advanced medical facility in the area, with intensive care units and operating rooms, as well as over 40 doctors and specialists. Currently 39 surgeries have been performed on survivors of the earthquake and 4 babies have been delivered.

Injured Haitians fill Dominican hos...With medical care in short supply in quake-struck Haiti, many injured have been transported across the border to the Dominican Republic. Ambulances and private cars full of victims have been shuttling back and forth from the Haitian capital since the quake hit.
