AMA BRIBE HIDDEN IN OBAMA’S “JOBS” BILL

February 11th, 2010 admin

Remember the “doctor fix,” the multi-billion bribe for the American Medical Association that got voted down in the Senate last year? Well, it’s baaaaaaaack. The Dems have stashed it in the “jobs” bill: On page 107, the program delays a scheduled reduction in doctors’ payments under Medicare. As I wrote last October in the American Spectator, this is the AMA’s price for supporting Obamacare.

REID KILLS “JOBS” BILL & AMA BRIBE
This is interesting. Combined with Nancy Pelosi’s increasing irritation with the White House, Reid’s move suggests that there is SERIOUS trouble in Paradise: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid led colleagues and the White House to believe he supported a bipartisan jobs bill — only to scuttle the plan as soon as it was released Thursday...
A DOCTOR’S RESPONSE TO AMA SUPPORT OF OBAMACARE
Last October I wrote a piece for the American Spectator explaining why the AMA backed Obamacare against the best interests of the health care system and the patients. The AMA was hoping that collaboration on the reform charade would earn it a reprieve from Medicare physician pay cuts cuts due in January. It was a cynical tactic  Read More →
HC SUMMIT: OBAMA’S HUBRIS BURIES REFORM
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote in the American Spectator that Obamacare was killed by the President himself. Today, he buried the corpse. His arrogant behavior at the summit deep-sixed it. Today’s exercise should have been good for him. He had two huge advantages: control of the format and a press corps ready to report anything he did...
THE AMA-OBAMACARE BAIT & SWITCH
Well, the Democrats finally paid off the quislings at the AMA, and the American people will (as usual) be left to pay the tab. As I wrote in this AmSpec piece last year, the AMA’s support of Obamacare was all about the Benjamins. The goal was a reprieve from big cuts in Medicare payments to doctors, and that’s what they  Read More →

Senate Bill Would Delay Medicare Physician Payment Cuts Until October 2010
On March 10, 2010, the U.S. Senate passed legislation (H.R.4213) on a 62-36 vote , which would reportedly delay a scheduled 21.2 percent Medicare payment reduction for physician services until October 1, 2010. In the Final Rule updating the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) for calendar year 2010, CMS adopted an update of -21.2 percent. MPFS...

Health-Care Bill: Going Back for Another Vote
Student loans appear to be a health overhaul headache: the reconciliation bill is going back to the House for a vote, thanks to Senate Republicans who found two provisions in the document — including one related to student loans — that violate its rules and can’t be included in the final bill. Some 16 lines of text will be removed...
